Everything was installed at once

Porter Ranch grew in waves, and each wave got its own set of builder-specified appliances. That means a street where the double wall ovens went in the same year, and where the same control board fails on a dozen houses within a couple of seasons of each other. We see the pattern before the homeowner does, which usually shortens the diagnosis considerably.

The most common of these is the upper oven on a double stack failing while the lower one still works. That is almost never the oven. It is the relay board that drives the upper element, and it is a part replacement.

Hillside heat and the garage refrigerator

The tracts sit higher than the Valley floor and the afternoon sun on a west facing garage is brutal. The second refrigerator out there is running against an ambient temperature it was never rated for, and it is consistently the first appliance in the house to quit. If yours is in the garage, vacuum the condenser coil twice a year. It costs nothing and it is the difference between eight years and fifteen.

Built-in refrigeration behind cabinet panels

Panel-ready built-in refrigerators are standard in the newer tracts. When one of these stops cooling, the important question is whether the fault is in the sealed system or in the fans and the defrost circuit. The second is worth fixing on almost any unit. The first is worth fixing on a built-in and rarely worth it on a freestanding one, because of what the cabinetry costs to alter. We give you that answer before you commit to anything.

Questions we get

Do you charge for the visit in Porter Ranch?

We tell you the cost of the visit when you call, before anyone comes out, and the price of the repair is agreed with you before any work starts. Nothing is decided after the fact.

Are you open on the weekend?

We are open Sunday from 7:00 to 19:00 and closed Saturday. Sunday is the day most competitors are shut, and it is one of our busiest.

Can you come out the same day?

Often yes, but Porter Ranch is a longer drive than the rest of our area, so a morning call gives you much better odds than an afternoon one.

Typical price ranges are being published on the pricing page. Until then, you get a price before we touch anything.
